Individual Advising – Skills Development

Want to build a specific skill, find formal training, or gain practical experience that you can put on your resume? All UW–Madison postdocs are eligible for individual appointments with Dr. Alyssa Leystra, the Associate Director for Skills Development. Alyssa holds a PhD in Cancer Biology and has over five years of experience supporting the personal and professional skills development of early career researchers.

Book time to have a one-on-one meeting with Alyssa to:

  • Develop your training goals and timeline.
  • Discuss resources to develop specific skills, including but not limited to:
    • Grant writing
    • Presenting your research
    • Leading research projects and groups
    • Mentoring other researchers
    • Teaching
  • Explore how to build your network and mentoring team to further support your personal and professional goals.

Individual advising appointments can be scheduled either online or in person in Health Sciences Learning Center in 1210A.
